Meet Our Team – Miramar Beach Dental
Dr. Jason E. Baker DDS
Dr. Jason Baker made the choice to pursue dentistry because he viewed it as the perfect marriage between medicine and creative expression. He attended Louisiana State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and continued his education by receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center. In 2006 he moved with his family to the emerald coast. In 2011 Dr. Baker opened the doors of Miramar Beach Dental & Orthodontics.
Dr. Baker has a passion for dentistry and a heart for his patients. “I believe a large part of our success comes partially from the passion I have for what I do but largely from the environment in our office. “We strive to maintain a warm, comforting, family-like atmosphere so that our patients know their health and comfort come first.” The practice moved into the new office location in the spring of 2015. This office was designed specifically to enable us to provide the highest quality of care under one roof to minimize the need for our patients to visit multiple specialists to have their comprehensive treatment completed.
Dr. Baker’s areas of concentration include orthodontic treatment, sedation (sleep dentistry) and a broad range of surgical services. For over 20 years Dr. Baker has been creating beautiful smiles with orthodontics and is experienced in Invisalign, traditional braces, dentofacial orthopedics and surgical intervention for accelerated orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Baker is also licensed to provide Conscious Sedation, which involves intravenous or oral administration of medications to alleviate anxiety, allowing our patients to have their dental treatment completed without fear or stress.
In addition, he is experienced in multiple oral surgical procedures that include removal of impacted wisdom teeth, placement of implants, and augmentation of jaws with inadequate bony support for implants or “same day teeth”.
Dr. Christina Higgins-Duplechain DDS
Due to her love of art and science, Dr. Christina Higgins-Duplechain gravitated towards dentistry. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at LSU, finishing Summa Cum Laude. She graduated from LSU School of Dentistry in 2005. Dr. Higgins has been practicing general dentistry on the Emerald Coast for over 13 years and joined Miramar Beach Dental team in 2014.
Dr. Higgins has taken a special interest in screening and treating patients with obstructive sleep apnea. This is an important field to her since it is highly under-diagnosed and if left untreated can shorten a patient’s life by up to 12 years. In addition, she thoroughly enjoys treating our pediatric patients. Dr. Higgins has taken numerous courses in pediatric dentistry to ensure a positive experience for both the child and parents and will make sure to alleviate any fears or concerns. Dr. Higgins also finds it rewarding to provide cosmetic procedures such as Invisalign and Botox. She lives by the rule of treating patients like they are family and making sure their health and comfort come first. Her ultimate goal is to have happy, healthy patients who leave smiling.
In her free time, Dr. Higgins enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and friends. She likes to ride her bike, go to the beach, and watch her sons play baseball. She also enjoys volunteering with the Children’s Volunteer Health Network Dental Bus.
